Daily Journaling Week 14

I'm following the prompts of the original Documented Life 2014Week 14 : Write your name and embellish it (not inspired by that at all this week!) And from the blog for Life Documented 2017 HERE : Theme for the month has been Bloom. Prompt : make drippy collage flowers.
I started by using a stencil and paints for my days of the week - pretty
This week has been very stormy as we catch the end of Cyclone Debbie....no worries at my house but I am sick of "drips" and not ready for full-frontal winter yet so decided I would go for messy blooms instead. I was inspired by Alisa Burke's floral finger painting on YouTube and this blog post as well. These in turn put me in mind of a Life book lesson I did last year called Expressive Florals - not fingerpainting, but loose and messy and lovely ♥
When I went back to look at it again, I realised that I had only attempted the bonus lesson (actually from 2014). So here I am inspired by {some of} the actual main lesson from Week 32 2016 called "Grow Free" with Tam. Began with a sprayed background and very loose leafy shapes
Spatter and finger-painting - loose and fun and drippy flowers achieved :-)
This is the finished spread - not one of my favourites, but a fun experiment and I'm calling it done ready for journaling my week

Inner Work Part 2 Journal

I shared my new first Inner Work Journal in late January HERE. I haven't shared much from it because often it doesn't contain stuff I want to share, but I wanted to just check in to say that I am so glad I started this....I am learning so much about myself - I am enjoying "writing things out" - I get new clarity, and gain perspective when I write about things that are frustrating or making me angry or when I feel like I'm not getting to where I want to be. It also makes me more in touch with things I am grateful for - celebrating when I've had success - we sometimes don't do that enough I think.
And we've reached the end of March, and I've reached the end of my first Inner Work Journal!
It was an experiment to see if I would like it, and I do....my next journal I picked up at a cheap store - I ♥ the cover design so will only need to add dates and I'm all set
Here are a couple of examples of things I do in my Inner Work journal - print out meaningful messages
Sign up to get uplifting messages in your email box on weekdays HERE from Brave Girls Club. I keep a track of what I've been watching, listening to and reading over the month.
Particularly recommend this book :
I respond to prompts from Book of Days (we get daily prompts every month to use as we wish) - I often write, but not every day.
I sometimes print out art I've made  - this is my SHINE Vision Board. It was nice to finish with looking ahead to April. And I've started my new "Wild & Free" Inner Work Journal with what Effy wrote for our April PDF for BOD while we are on hiatus, and our prompts for the month :
Go HERE for Effy's post where she shares this PDF for everyone (it's thing four of her Friday Five last week). Then I began April by responding to the first 2 prompts for the month...which led to a creative to-do list for the month....it's long!
I'm not worried about the length of the list - some of it is my usual routine (OLW monthly promptscontinuing Inner Work in this journal, weekly daily journal spreads), AND we have 2 weeks of school holidays this month starting at Easter. I really want to get back to quilting and other stitchy projects - if they're written down, they stand a chance of getting attention. I'll be using micro-movements ♥ Hopefully you'll see lots of me this month sharing creative progress. Happy April to you.

Daily Journaling Week 13

Farewell March and the first quarter of the year! I'm following the prompts of the original Documented Life 2014. This is Week 13 : Ask someone else to draw on your page - finish it! And from the blog for Life Documented 2017 HERE : Theme: April Showers
Quote: Created with Salvaged Words
Started by asking my sons if they would like to draw on my page. The sixteen year old : "Can't draw mum, but I can put some words on if you like...." There was some lovely inky splatter on the page that came over from last week - so I gave him a purple glitter pen (basketball consumes every minute when not at school or with his girlfriend) #♥
Been wanting to try a watercolour technique from Effy's Book of Days so decided this was a good place to do it. I did a wee test in my studio book first to see how watercolours would behave on my small dylusions journal paper vs watercolour
After testing on a few different bases, I decided that for this project I'd be fine just to use good quality watercolours - this stack is Koh-i-noor dye-based watercolour
Love the vibrancy of these. So I followed my son's lead, and went with a heart - then swoops of colour for journaling on the opposite page
I ♥ using "salvaged" (from the prompt) or I call them "found" words in my work - in fact I have a label for that so you can see some of the ways I use them by clicking HERE. We are still having warm temperatures and this spread takes us to the end of March, so here are my words and close-ups of some of my doodles. I am avoiding any thought of April showers and just nodding at that prompt with my use of watercolour ;-)
Really happy with this page and a bonus that it covers off a Book of Days lesson. All ready for this past week's Daily Journaling.
