February monthly journal review

Time to share my completed February monthly journal. You can see my first post about this journal practice here
I chose Red for February because of the obvious Valentines associations but also our Red light Covid settingHere's how I began.
Each weekend I create my journal spreads for my week ahead.
Sometimes they receive a lot more decoration, and sometimes it's really just the daily writing.
And these are how my Journal 52 responses this month were placed in this journal.
There was room for a little extra art too.
Tomorrow's the 1st of March and I've chosen Green for my next journal. It's the beginning of Autumn when we get to the equinox on 21st March here in New Zealand. The Omicron wave is surging. Take care everyone.

Journal 52 in February

I'm responding to Effy Wild's Journal 52 cards for 2022 on various small cards or tags that can become part of my monthly journal project. My rules : each small piece will include stitch, a found word, and be inspired by the project I've been working on that week or what's lying leftover on my work table. Each monthly journal is colour themed so that informs my choices too.
Week 5 : Grace. Inspired by work with Megan Whisner-Quinlan in Fodder school that week
Week 6 : Play. The vellum words were attached to a label on a recent clothing purchase.
Week 7 : Love. Inspired again by the new lessons released by Megan Whisner Quinlan about making assemblages. The photo is my mum and her big sister.
Week 8 : Allow. I've been reading Caylee Grey's wonderful book with her Get Messy philosophy. She keeps saying that quality comes with quantity. I had less than half an hour to create so let go of expectations and just allowed what wanted to show up on this page. Enjoying using fodder bits from previous months too.
I share these Journal 52 responses weekly on my Instagram. You can get access to the prompts by joining Effy's Wilderhood group on FB or subscribe to her newsletter. See all my posts about this project here.

Fodder School with Megan Whisner-Quinlan

It's been a hugely busy week back at school with the students. But I've had a great weekend with time to relax and do some more fodder school play and now able to share what I've done so far with our February lessons with Megan Whisner-Quinlan. I really love her work and her colour palette so have been looking forward to these lessons.
I was thinking about my monthly journal when I made my first fodder, but then I just went with colours I adore.
I look forward to using this fodder in projects to come. The piece below is in my monthly journal using fodder elements and a background from my first play when the lessons were released.
And I even love the inky papers that I printed on so as not to waste the ink
and my under paper is coming along nicely
This coming week we get Megan's second lesson for the month about how to use our fodder. You can still join us

52 Flags : January

I shared the beginning of this project hereWhile I've been posting the flags to my Instagram weekly as I've made them, I'm just going to do a monthly photo share here on the blog.
Week 1 : A pocket and a note to self
Week 2 : Darning. Therapeutic stitching - an imperfectly mended heart
Week 3 : Fragments and buttons. A chance to combine fabric and paper with stitch.
Week 4 : Windows. Fun to use some gorgeous felt from my stash and embellishments representing some of my favourite things
You can join us at any time on Anne's Ko-fi page
(£3 = around NZ$6/month). I'm enjoying this weekly challenge - I often stitch them in the evening. And I'm loving seeing them hanging up in my studio.
If you want to see these every week, check out my Instagram
