Journal 52 : Week 16

Journal 52 is a weekly prompt from Effy Wild (Free HERE) that I'm creating on a deck of jumbo playing cards 3.5'' x 4.75'' (8.5 x 12 cm). Each card will include stitch, a found word, and be inspired by the project I've been working on that week or what's lying leftover on my work table. See the original post HERE.
#16 : Sensual. Inspired by my response to a recent prompt in my Autumn Art Journal about the senses.

Begun with a background using that altered brown paper that I made in 2012! (the advantages of having a blog where I capture my process)

Tactile was the way to go with this. Decided to do some more leaves stitched on paper  - I love the raggedy imperfection. A mix of hard (the heart brad) and soft (sari ribbon), delicate (butterfly) and spikey (the net), glowing metallic and serviceable dictionary definition. Very Autumnal feeling to this card which isn't surprising given the inspiration.

A Year of Rumi : Peace be with you

This month's Rumi quote is about Peace and the connectivity of the human condition, and the golden thread of kindness. Since Effy shared a photo of this lesson on her blog last year I thought you might like to see what she did and how mine differs. 

Learning every day - what would happen if....I start with scrapbook paper that has large florals in gold for my background?

and really thrilled that since I used glazes you can still see the original gold shining through

New FREE inspirations and NZ art supplies

I've made some new discoveries and they've sent me away from the real world for a bit making joyous discoveries - I almost called this post "Down the Rabbit hole" ♥
I've had a fellow Kiwi join my favourite Book of Days online class - she asked a question about stencils so I shared what I know about NZ suppliers and techniques - she had discovered a supplier that is new for me and I will definitely be exploring Craftables (located in Tauranga but with online ordering) after lockdown. If you are in NZ you might like to explore that post about where I shop for supplies. Have just updated it - you can always find it in my right side bar.

I must admit I'm a little overwhelmed about all the generous cheap and free offerings around at present (says she before she shares yet more!). There are things I've joined that I still haven't had time to look at!
I AM still working regular week day hours from home and have teenage boys and husband in my bubble so some of my time is taken with playing darts, poker, Psych (cool app to play together on your phone) and a lego challenge that we've set up for our extended family with a private FB group. This was my sewing machine challenge which I'm pretty proud of.
