Social Media - where to find me online

There are so many online sites to share our creativity and connect with others it becomes quite overwhelming...where do we draw the line? I'm listing my social media presence here so if you don't want to become a blog follower, there are some other options for you to see when I post.
I began my blog in July of 2010! Although I've had a couple of breaks where I thought I wanted to stop, I love having a record of all my projects with the process photos which capture how I did things. I have quite a few followers now, so obviously it's also inspiring to others which is fantastic. About the same time I started the blog I realised I needed a Flickr account as well - back then it was a way to share art in classes. I still post to Flickr - it's a useful way of bringing together photos of my art in albums.
I've had a personal FB account for a while and it was my practice to refuse FB friend requests from people I didn't know in person, and post art things publicly. However, last year I decided to create a FB artist page as an option for people to see my work without having to follow my blog.
I also belong to a number of FB groups where I love the supportive artistic communities, but I comment there with my personal profile.
Then there's Pinterest....I have a few boards mainly for seasonal fashion inspiration and a couple of inspirational boards for words of the year.
I've just started including my art on Pinterest in 2018. I've begun with my art journaling for 2018 and will add more boards as the year progresses.
And finally Instagram - I only joined this at the end of December because some of my younger extended family use this in preference to FB....I'm only going to post my art on Insta (not family snaps) and need to start thinking of #creativeheadings
I am not tweeting, tumbling or snapchatting, and I haven't done any filming yet. Give yourself limits because with all these applications you can spend all your time looking instead of creating! I've always loved this reminder :

But I hope this post encourages you to find me in a place/s of convenience to you.

She Blooms in Ink : an angled portrait

Finally had some time to start lesson 2 from Tam's wonderful online class. This time it's an angled portrait - so a bit trickier with proportions. This is my pencil sketch
and here's what happened as I started adding colour. Trying to keep it loose....
face progress and hair details
Love how doodles bring the flowers to life
I've been listening to Macklemore's "Glorious" so that informed my words
And here she is finished. Click on any photo to see it larger.
This class is live between Dec 1st 2017 - 12th January 2018 and then reverts to self study. Life long access. You can register HERE. See all my posts about this class HERE.

Book of Days and Moonshine - first spread : SHINE

This year I'm taking Effy Wild's year-long bundle of online art classes : Moonshine and Book of Days 2018. First lesson for the year was released in both classes. This spread is meant to serve as a touchstone or anchor for my year and I'm guided in my decisions by my Word for 2018 which continues to be SHINE. Read about that HERE.
I'm continuing to use my altered art journal for my main art lessons this year. I added some collaged papers that I wouldn't mind peeking through
but then when I added paint colours I moved to pink instead of the red. Because I'm doing shine, I decided to make my colours more cohesive with Gold - my favourite is a cheap DecoArt Metallic called "Splendid Gold" from Spotlight - I can usually get this brand on special for around $5 or less so it means I can brayer it on liberally without worrying about the cost ♥ Left page is after gold application, right page is before.
I was just going to use stars as my symbol, but decided I would like to combine the stars with hearts. I coloured sheet music with other metallic paints
and then used a combination of cut hearts with stenciled and punched stars.
Added my word - these 2 hearts are on the hinge of a door
I needed some brads and a bit of ribbon as an attachment for the door - happily I had these heart brads and love that means I now have a star with a heart in it
To add some light - I really like my new white Posca for this
A close-up of the scrummy layers
And to finish - the words that make up SHINE (Share, Healthy, Inner Work, Notice, Enjoy) on the main hearts and a few support words in the stars ♥
Love using found words for this - large print dictionary was the source this time
Behind the door
Finished spread
You can sign up for this and other classes by Effy Wild HERE. See my Flickr albums including art inspired by Effy, featuring my word of the year, and other art from my altered art journal HERE.
